Claddy House, between Blairmore and Ardentinny, oil on board,
signed/dated l/l "WY 26
Apl. 1873",
7.75" x 10.25" sight,
13.25"
x 15.75" framed.
About the Painting: Good. A cut or scratch extends from top
to bottom about one half inch from the right
edge. Apparently, the original Mill Board
did not fit the available frame, so a small
strip of board was used to join the two.
Cleaning and re-varnishing would enhance
the colors. The frame has been painted.
About the Artist: Glasgow artist who, along with William Dennistoun
and Cowans, established the Glasgow Art Club.
An amateur artist for many years, he turned
professional in 1878. Painted oils and watercolours
of the west coast and Arran in a detailed
and well worked style. In addition to painting,
Young was known as a local historian and
expert on early art and archaeology - from The Dictionary of Scottish Painters 1600-1960.
About the Images: The photography is NOT professional and
color variations can occur between images
of the same object. Framed objects usually
are more faithful to the actual colors in
the painting. Also, computer monitors may
render the colors differently. You are, therefore,
encouraged to ask questions about color or
clarity - if in doubt. We DO guarantee that
our images are an honest and reasonable representation,
however.
