About the Artist:
Hellmuth Weissenborn trained and then taught in his native Leipzig until 1939, when he fled the Nazis and came to England. After a brief internment on the Isle of Man, he produced a famous series of lino-cuts of London during the blitz. From 1941 to 1970, he taught at the Ravensbourne College of Art, Bromley. But throughout, and later, he produced paintings and prints in various media, including illustrations for the Acorn Press and Whittington Press.
