NOTE: This painting is signed Helen McD. Campbell.
We believe this was her maiden name and the
drawing was done while she was as a student
in London. It must be clearly stated, however, that
we have not established the facts to substantiate
our attribution.
Condition: Very good.
Biography: An artists' label shows a "Studio"
address in Chelsea for the exhibition of
this drawing at the prestigious Royal Society
of Portrait Painters. The artist showed,
also, at the Royal Academy, but the exhibition
years are unknown.
Helen Campbell Taylor was a native
of Illinois
who painted figures and portraits.
Her work
has appeared at auction on both
East and
West coasts of the United States,
and she
is listed in at least six art
reference sources.
She executed both oils and drawings.
