About the Etching: Good to very good; even paper toning.
About the Artist: A native of Stuttgart, he was a student
of James D. Smillie in New York City. He
won many prizes including a silver medal
at the Panama-Pacific Exposition (1915) and
at the Salmagundi Club in 1917 and 1918.
His work is in the Uffizi Gallery, the Library
of Congress, the Boston Museum of Fine Art
and the New York Public Library.
