About the Painting: Very good. There is what appears to be fixative
residue on the drawing to the right of the
woman's head (her left). It can only be seen
on close examination. Other marks are glass
reflections.
About the Artist: This painting is signed L. Lelois and we
believe it to be the work of Louis Lelois,
a French painter/illustrator. Among other
work, he contributed to The Works Of Moliere (Illustrations By Mm. Louis Lelois, Maurice
Leloir, Jacques Leman, Edmond Hedouin), a
12 volume set published in Paris around 1900
by Chez Barrie Freres.
