Condition: Both excellent.

Biography: Painter and etcher of landscapes, figure subjects and portraits. Born on 28th March 1869 at Chester. Studied at Chester School of Art under Walter Schroeder, at the R.C.A., and in Paris. Exhibited at the principal London galleries from 1893, mainly at the R.A., R.I., R.W.S., R.O.I. Presdient of the London Sketch Club 1902-04 and was elected R.I. 1898, R.O.I. 1908, A.R.E. 1909, R.E. 1911, A.R.W.S. 1925, R.W.S. 1936, VP.R.W.S. 1947-50. Represented in many public collections at home and abroad. Won a gold medal at the Barcelona International Exhibition, a bronze medal in Chicago, exhibited at the Paris Salon and also at other European galleries. Lived in France for some time and worked widely in that country. Princpal works include Poplars in France, In the Meadows, Blue Sails at Concarneau, Boulogne Ville and A Dutch Market. Lived in London for some years and died on 10th February 1952.
