On the Rocks, watercolor, signed with initials and dated
'52,
7 3/4" X 12 1/2" sight,
19.5"
x 24" framed.
About the Painting: This painting is in excellent condition,
mounted in a custom gilt frame with triple
mount.
During the sail era, the coast
of England
(and other countries, too, presumably)
was
ringed with shelters, stocked
with supplies
- the incidence of ship wreck
was so common.
Charles Parsons Knight has captured
the aftermath
of such a disaster, but with
survivors making
their way up the trail to one
of these shelters.
A clean, bright little picture
in the best
of English watercolor tradition.
