Biography:
Painter and etcher of landscapes, figure subjects and portraits. Born on 28th March 1869 at Chester. Studied at Chester Schol of Art under Walter Schroeder, at the R.C.A, and in Paris. Exhibitied at the principal London galleries from 1893, mainly at the R.A, R.I., R.W.S., R.O.I. President of the London Sketch Club 1902-04 and was elected R.I. 1898, R.O.I. 1908, A.R.E. 1909, R.E. 1911, A.R.W.S. 1925, R.W.S. 1936, V.P.R.W.S. 1947-50. Represented in many public collections at home and abroad. Won a gold medal at the Barcelona In ternational Exhibition, a bronze medal in Chicago, exhibited at the Paris Salon and also at other European galleries. Lived in Fran ce for some time and worked widely in that country. Principal works include Poplars in France, Tn the Meadows, Ble Sails at Concarneau, Boulogne Ville and ADutch Market. Lived in London for some years and died on 10th February 1952. - from Dictionary of British Artists Working 1900-1950.

A popular English Impressionist painter, Lee-Hankey is best known for his studies of the land and people around the coast of Northern France painting the majority of his pictures in Normandy, Brittany and on the Cote d'Azure. He served with Artist's Rifles 1915-18.
