Hebridean Solitude, watercolor, signed l/r,
8.75" x 11.25" sight, 13.75"
x 16.25".
About the Painting: Very good condition. Excellent composition
and color. It appears to be as fresh as the
day it was painted - almost a hundred years
ago. The painting is presented in a line
wash mat with a simple, damaged gold frame,
unglazed. We have left it intact due to the
presence of a label, verso, which reads ""Hebridean
Solitude", An Original Water Colour
by J. A. Boyle. Rematted and reframed, this
is a painting that will provide immense pleasure
for a very small investment.
About the Artist: Boyle was a Perth businessman and artist
who exhibited landscapes in watercolor. He
exhibited a painting at the Glasgow Institute
in 1908 and is cited in several art publications.
