Condition:Very good condition.

Biography: Born in Russia, Michael Baxte relocated with his family to the Mississippi Valley where he grew to love the river landscape and also pursued musical interests in New Orleans. He returned to Europe to study music through 1913 and then went to New York City where he began to paint, married a French painter, and exhibited his artwork. During the 1930s, he lived in France and became part of the School of Paris and exhibited his artwork in government sponsored exhibitions including the Salon d' Automme.

When World War II began, he and his wife relocated to Mexico where they continued to live.
