Biography: Amerigo Bartoli was a painter, sculptor, architect, and a graduate in jurisprudence. He studied at the Institute of Fine Arts of Rome, and worked for some time with Sartorio. He painted oils and undertook public commissions, but is perhaps best known for his witty illustrations of political life and the art community of Rome. A notable example was the picture "Friends for Coffee," which was awarded a prize in the Biennial Veneziana.

Bartoli's country pictures are said to have been influenced by Corot. His work can be found in many public and private collections.
